The Little Island Built the Florida Keys

This very small island is so cool to see. It actually served as a railroad work camp (Florida East Coast Railway) for those building the Florida Keys Highway System. This camp even survived the big 1935 Hurricane. You get to learn all about that and more at the island's environmental education center and museum. Visitors access the island by boat taxi from the Pigeon Key Visitors Center, at Knights Marina.

Yeah to the Builders of the Florida Keys
This tiny coral island is the best treasure of the area and something to see. It was the original work camp for the extension of the Henry Flagler Railway. Marathon and Pigeon Key housed a huge population of Keys Builders. We thank them!

Pigeon Key Visitor's Center Tours
Tours to this unique attraction are cheap compared to most of the other boat rides. You can walk to it on the bridge and see it up close, without paying the entrance fee. It is best from a distance, as there is not that much going on. The Florida Keys Directory has a bunch of better options.
