Do bring your kayak, this is the perfect place to paddle around a city center waterfront. Start from Demons Landing, they have a huge park and boat ramp for public use. You can even have a nice BBQ down along the water. What a nice scene.

The waterfront is fantastic to explore
Pack for a picnic and you will find a nice place along the waterfront here in this scenic town. Similar to Fort Lauderdale, in that you have an abundant amount of waterfront which doesn't have any structures on it. In Fort Lauderdale you see the beaches, and St. Petersburg it's the bayfront. Just a fantastic place.
