How is the fishing around Matlacha?
This is an area we fish frequently. One thing you need to be worried about is the dead floating grass. Bring one of the weedless lures or use fresh bait. The flats around North Matlacha Pass are often covered in dead grass making fishing a bit more challenging.

Boating Fills up on the Weekends
They have a nice boat ramp here and a separate kayak launch area. During Monday through Friday I never really have a problem getting a spot for parking the boat trailer. Sunny nice and mild weekends are a whole other issue so be prepared.

Tight Fishing Rules in Florida

Super spot to dump the boat, it really speeds up the day to be in the fishing paradise. Fish right off the dock at Matlacha Community Park. It is great here. Also, be sure to follow the rules as they enforce them big time. Fishing for saltwater species in Lee County is watched and the failure to follow regulations can be costly. At least read a summary of laws and regulation specs.
