Weekend Trips to Fort DeSoto Park
There is a big boat ramp over at Gandy Boulevard, but it's a lot better to get over there by the Gulf. Fort DeSoto Park is probably the best place in all of the Tampa Bay area. It's at the South end Pinellas County near the Skyway. It is also the biggest boat ramp in Florida.

Good spots to go for a waterfront picnic
It's nice here and if you go kayaking just worry about the wind. Sometimes it can really whip up and make it difficult to get back from wherever you go. Water quality is much better in St. Petersburg, but this is not a bad scene at all the paddle around.
